To borrow from the basketball term “nothing but net,” the Valley Industry Association’s 2012 B2B Industry Show was “nothing but business” and lots of it.

On Thursday, March 1VIA opened its doors to 44 exhibitors, hundreds of luncheon attendees and more than 2,000 business people as they walked the exhibit floors at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. This was the show’s first appearance at the Santa Clarita Conference Center.

The Governing Board of the William S. Hart Union High School District recently honored the VIA Foundation for its work conducting the Connecting to Success program in the fall of 2011.

Diana Meyer, VIA chairwoman of the VIA board and president of Meyer Marketing Intelligence was on hand along with Randy Moberg, chairman of the VIA Foundation and chief operating officer of LBW Insurance and Kathy Norris, VIA CEO/president to receive the award.

The Valley Industry Association’s top goals for 2012 have been identified as collaboration, member recruitment and retention, and leadership development and successor planning.

I am honored to be installed as VIA’s Chairwoman of the Board for 2012. Before sharing with you my vision for 2012, I need to convey my appreciation to a number of people active in VIA. I want to thank our outgoing Chairman Tim Burkhart for his leadership during this past year and to the 2011 Board of Directors for their dedication to the organization.

At December’s Board of Directors strategic planning session, the Valley Industry Association developed its strategic vision for 2012. Building relationships and connecting businesses through collaboration will be the central theme for the coming year.

The Valley Industry Association began 2011 like most years, with a focus on its strategic vision, a robust planning calendar and an engaged Board of Directors and staff ready to fulfill the organization’s mission. What made this year different than most was that VIA had an occasion to celebrate – its 30th year connecting and building Santa Clarita Valley business and industry.

As the year comes to a close, VIA takes a look back over three decades if historical milestones and influential people responsible for the success of the organization.

In celebration of its 30 year history, the Valley Industry Association recognized several key individuals and organizations during the 30th Anniversary Gala on Oct. 14 at the Hyatt Regency Valencia.

The Valley Industry Association and Small Business Development Center have teamed up to offer a hands-on tutorial on the online social networking site, LinkedIn, on Friday, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center on the campus of College of the Canyons located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road.

The two-hour workshop, held in a computer lab, teaches participants how to effectively use the popular business networking site to grow their business and increase their circle of connections.

As a leading voice of business and industry in the Santa Clarita Valley for the past 30 years, the Valley Industry Association announces Earvin “Magic” Johnson, an American icon and NBA legend, will keynote the luncheon address at the 2012 Business-to-Business Industry Show on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the Hyatt Regency Valencia.
