For those of us who did not go into the business of practicing law, we’ve grown up watching dramatic primetime television shows from “Perry Mason” to “L.A. Law.” But the riveting moment, in which a jury or judge pronounces the “Guilty” or “Innocent” verdict, is the culmination of a tremendous amount of time spent doing research, taking depositions and in discovery. And actual verdicts occur far less than imagined.

Most kids her age would rather be outside playing with friends once they’ve finished homework assignments for the afternoon. This 11-year-old, however, is anything but an average kid her age.

A sixth-grader at Mountainview Elementary School in Saugus, Kyla Wilkin is one of the youngest entrepreneurs around.

What’s her inspiration? Her passion and love for animals and her desire to be able to buy the things that she wants, Kyla said.

“I spoil my dog,” Kyla said, who spends a lot of her profits on Spanky, the family dog.
