It has been 17 years since the project was conceived. The documents concerning it total 109,444 pages. It has been reviewed by 25 government agencies, has had 21 public hearings and several lawsuits and been the topic of more than 700 meetings.

The Newhall Ranch project is a 20,885-home and commercial center development in the northwest Santa Clarita Valley, to be built in four distinct “villages” on 12,000 acres off Interstate 5 along Highway 126 near the Santa Clara River.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary in September, AMS Fulfillment has grown to some 500 full and part-time employees and is, in part, responsible for the lack of industrial space available in the Santa Clarita Valley. In April, the company opens its 13th warehouse in the Valencia Industrial Center. And it has more than doubled the number of people it employs in the past year.

To cut expenses, Tom fires all his employees and hires his children as wait staff.

They certainly continue to serve an integral role in the overall health of the American economy.

Stephen C. Yeazell, a law professor at UCLA, said decades ago the legal field was mostly comprised of general sole practitioners. The legal specialization trend started about 20 to 30 years ago and he sees no reason for the trend to reverse anytime soon, as laws become more and more complex for each area and law schools continue to allow you to specialize your law school education through electives and extracurriculars.

For local residents who have yearned for an edgier, more youthful gathering place, Tilted Kilt is coming to Town Center Drive within the next couple months, according to franchise owner Jeff Fisher.

Opening on Town Center Drive, Tilted Kilt is going into a corner location occupied by three former restaurants, down the street from BJ’s restaurant.

“We’re across the street from Abercrombie & Fitch,” said Fisher.

When TOMS Shoes closes out inventory, it turns to its order-fulfillment and warehouse partner, AMS Fulfillment of Valencia to handle the sale.

The Santa Clarita Valley-based business opened its doors 8 a.m. Saturday for TOMS Shoes’ customers to shop and pick up shoes at discounted prices.

AMS Fulfillment opened for business Saturday to lines of shoppers winding almost fully around one of many warehouses it occupies in the Valencia Commerce Center.

New-vehicle sales for September continue to improve, J.D. Power and Associates reported.

Gathering transaction data from more than 8,900 retail franchisees through the United States, the marketing firm projected the seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 10.3 million units sold, marking the first time the retail selling rate would be above 10 million units since April.

Locally, automotive dealers reported healthy sales, especially during Labor Day weekend, which kicked off September.
