Santa Clara Valley Bank names Knight leader

Cheryl L. Knight has been appointed president and CEO of Santa Clara Valley Bank, the bank reported Tuesday.

Previously, she served as the Santa Paula-based bank’s executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief credit officer. Knight fills the position vacated by Michael Hause, who resigned in July 2011.

“I am honored to be given this opportunity and excited about the future of Santa Clara Valley Bank,” Knight said.

Fleming Serves as EDC Co-Chair

Don Fleming has been appointed co-chairman of the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corp. Fleming had been serving on the SCVEDC’s executive committee as vice-chair.

Don Fleming has been appointed co-chairman of the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corp. Fleming had been serving on the SCVEDC’s executive committee as vice-chair.

In the new role, Fleming will join
Bill Kennedy, who has served as chairman, in leading the organization’s
efforts to strengthen the valley’s economy.

“I am excited Don has agreed to serve as co-chair,” said Bill Kennedy, co-chairman.

SCVEDC Names New Manager

James E. Brown has been appointed as manager of business attraction for the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corp.

James E. Brown has been appointed as manager of business attraction for the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corp.

A veteran real estate executive, Brown will be responsible for lead generation, prospect development, enhancing broker services and implementation of the SCVEDC’s Business Attraction plan.

Brown will also work closely with local organizations, such as the city of Santa Clarita, Los Angeles County, College of the Canyons, Spirit Holding and Newhall Land.

Brown will continue working with Newhall Land in a consulting capacity.
