Urban Home is back in business in the Santa Clarita Valley, almost one year to the day after closing its doors to relocate.
On Friday, May 14, company General Manager Nicolas Martin whipped out a pair of giant novelty scissors for a ribbon cutting at Urban Home’s new location in the Valencia Marketplace in Stevenson Ranch.
Previously located in Saugus – in the space where Trader Joe’s now resides – Urban Home has settled into a 25,000-square-foot space previously occupied by a Levitz furniture store.
While several furniture stores in the SCV folded in the face of the recession, Urban Home never lost steam, marketing director Jan Hall said.
“We grew more then than we ever anticipated,” she said. “It’s because of the low prices.”
Hall said it took about four months to prepare the Stevenson Ranch location for business.
“This store happened very, very quickly,” she said, and added crews worked practically 24 hours a day, seven days a week to get the store ready.
Given its eclectic style and offerings, Urban Home continues to garner business from the film industry, Hall said.
Urban Home started 12 years ago as One World Imports in Santa Barbara, Hall said.
