The results are in. The selection committee of the Santa Clarita Valley Business Journal and JCI Santa Clarita Valley 40 Under Forty awards has named the class of 2011.
The six-member selection committee was comprised of Chris Angelo, 2012 chairman of the board, Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce; Steve Knight, State Assemblyman, 36th Assembly District; Marsha McLean, Mayor, City of Santa Clarita; Sue Reynolds, president, Soroptimist of Greater SCV; Morris Thomas, interim publisher, The Signal and publisher of the Santa Clarita Valley Business Journal; Dianne Van Hook, Chancellor, College of the Canyons.
Planning for this year’s 40 Under Forty event began in January, and nominations were accepted until mid-July. Nominations were open to all Santa Clarita and Antelope valley community members. More than 71 professionals were nominated for this year’s awards, representing various fields of community service, the arts, the public sector and business.
In order to be considered, nominees must work in a paid, full-time professional position; serve in a leadership role in their work or volunteer life; work or live in the Santa Clarita Valley and be able to attend the September reception.
Candidates were nominated with an essay outlining their careers and backgrounds, achievements and contributions. They were further supported by recommendations of colleagues.
A 40 Under Forty Awards Reception for this year’s honorees will begin at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at Robinson’s Ranch Golf Club in Canyon Country.
